Inspite of my grumbles on the increased prices in foods, I must say that Penang still has the tastiest foods and they are cheap too.
For example, on a lazy Sunday evening, we can easily savour several types of foods at relative cheap prices.
It is nearby my home, convenient, no dress code required and you get the whole green field to yourself.
Green, green meadow for the kid to run after his meal of wan tan mee.
Johor Road wan tan mee available in the evening and at night is still one of the better wan tan mee around. Only RM2.50.
Char koay teow with duck egg and large prawns costs RM5. The greenish plate made the char koay teow looks off colour but it is tasty.
Normally, my eldest son, my husband and I will each eat portion of the foods so that with all three of us, we get to taste three types of different foods.
Curry mee. Not exactly the best but it is still good.
Johor Road evening and night hawkers are some of my regular haunt. The dim sum man sells very good pau because the skin is handmade and not those commercialised type.
The Hokkien Char and Sar Hor Fun stall sells very nice stir fry noodles as well.

(September 1, 2008 - 5:37 am)Penang food is cheap because Penangites enjoy eating outside and the portion of food is small. There is plenty of market and Penangites prefer variety over quantity.
