I think all Honda, Naza and Proton car owners know this breakfast place by the drain. We have all three of these brands so whenever, a car needs service, we will go there for breakfast.
You have to be a thoroughbred Penangite to enjoy the foods because the shack they put up is rather unsightly. When it rains, you practically perch on broken stools, rickety tables and having rain water and mud on your feet.
However, it is a popular breakfast place and the place is usually crowded and people have to share tables.
Normally, we eat only three main things there. The first is the toasted bread with fillings. The above is the egg and ham fillings. There are all kinds of fancy fillings to choose from.
Meanwhile, many people like the curry mee here. My husband doesn’t really fancy it but I like the less lemak soup. The prawns are barely cooked and the cockles are ‘original’ with muddy taste and all. Hahaha.
Waiting for the curry mee is a bitch. You have to keep reminding them. This morning, one Ah Beng got so tulan, he shouted at the stall owner. “Kanineh, kong lai liao, ko boh lai, niamah….ai tan jeok ku eh?” Hahaha, I told you that you have to be a thoroughbred Penangite to enjoy scenes like these or else you will be scared out of your skin.
The other stall that has brisk business is the duck drumstick noodles. However, I didn’t order that so no photos.
Sungai Pinang Road is the road connecting Jalan Perak (from Jalan P. Ramlee junction) and Jalan Jelutong.

(July 26, 2008 - 3:58 am)Hi Lilian- this is really funny!! I was practically laughing my ass off reading “Kanineh, kong lai liao, ko boh lai, niamah….ai tan jeok ku eh?” It has been so long since I heard cursing in Hokkien by Ah Bengs. As I have been aborad in New York and Sri Lanka for years, I am still a Penangite at heart who missed the street food so much! Your blog is a comfort whenever I miss home!
