Yaw’s Grill & Roast lamb shank is better than Secret Recipe’s acclaimed lamb shank. It is also tastier, more value for money and much more original than most restaurants. And the best thing is, it is only RM24.90 with huge portion, enough for two small eaters.
I have featured Yaw’s Grill & Roast in my previous post but this lamb shank deserves a post on its own.
The reason I like it is because there is no overpowering of the regular herbs and tomato based gravy. Instead, the lamb shank has this lovely brown sauce with lots of bay leaves. So, instead of the same old taste of tomato based gravies, what I get is a delicious wholesome brown gravy.
The dish is accompanied by a large potato and a dollop of buttery mashed potato. It is certainly for big eaters with all that carbo and protein. However, we shared the dish between a few of us so it is not as sinful.
It is a pity of people cannot appreciate lamb shanks because it is one of my favourite part of the lamb. When cooked correctly, the meat is tender and falls off the bones. There is some tendon and soft ligaments. Sometimes, a bit of fat makes the meat even nicer.
However a lot of Chinese have this idea that lamb stinks. Goodness, this is lamb from Australia and not one of those ugly goats on our roads lah. I had seen one Singaporean food review show where the two girls pinched their own noses and shied away from the dish. What morons. Want to be food reviewer and dare not even eat a delicious dish like lamb shanks?
You can find how to go to Yaw’s Grill in my previous post.
