Telok Bahang – End of the World seafood – LOUSY

It has been some years since we went up to Telok Bahang for its seafoods. Telok Bahang is located after the stretch of hotels in Batu Feringghi.

Yesterday, we have blogger friends who were staying at Golden Sands. So, I thought of bringing them to End of the World. It is a big mistake. The foods are so, so lousy. So, bad that I won’t even want to honour them with any food photos. I didn’t take any pics because after sampling the first few dishes, ptui, why should I feature some place that serves lousy foods. Here is the summary:

Orh chien – Sticky, goey, floury mess of overcooked tiny oysters

Belacan chicken – Undercooked, bloodied chicken which we need to send back to the kitchen

Bake crab themidor that has more onions and celery than crab meats

Steam fish – We asked for ‘cheng chui’ or plain steam fish but they piled loads of smelly (in kids’ opinions) coriander leaves, chillies and ginger.

Butter prawns that is just so-so

Brocolli and mushrooms that has thicky, blackish tapioca flour gravy and they dare to call it braised mushrooms with brocolli.

So, don’t ever go to End of the World seafoods.

Bleargh!

    Hi Auntie Lilian

My last trip to Penang was made extra nice because I visited this shop at Lebuh Victoria very near the ferry stop – take a left turn at after Ghee Hiang. This place serves one of the best beef noodles I have ever eaten! Have you been there before? Will you do a review for everyone so that they can find their way there and sample the beef noodles in this little shop manned by an elderly couple. There is a sort of Malay food court opposite the shop. Its quite easy to find once you are in the vicinity. Think the shop is call Eng Huat or Eng something.

    Hi Lilian!

Have you tried the seafood restaurant at this formerly Craven Cafe @ Tg Bunga? Friends told me that the establishment was at Teluk Bahang and since their customer complained that it’s so far… they decided to move there. I always love seafood except weird ones like Geoduck (urrghhh!!!) but my hubby not so keen. Kind made me starving… :,-(

You’re right about this End of the world… they getting bad just because of their name…sigh…

pixen – Actually, I hardly travel up to Tg Bungah and do not know where was Craven. LOL. But I must look it up.

Yu Jen – I think I know which place you mean. Last time I worked in the Weld Quay area and we used to go for lunch a lot. But it was always so hot so I haven’t been there. Thanks for reminding me, I will visit one day and bring the photos to you.

I live in Teluk Bahang and I personally DONT recommend End of The World cause they change the owner quiet some time ago and the old owner let the new owner have the name of the shop. The old owner cooks wayy better..Nowadays the new owner charges so much and the food is not good. They even charge us who live there the same as foreigner-___-
WaterWorld seafood at B.Ferringhi is not bad.You should try eating at Gooday restaurant (same row as maybank) at night. The owner(a friend of my bf) cooks for sultan brunei last time. They’re gonna change owner end of this month so go try it 🙂

and the restaurant pixen mentioned is Ah Phang Seafood. It was indeed from Teluk Bahang.Their food is good and not so expensive but now it is cause they need to cover their rent.

Just came back from End of The World. Food is terrible and expensive. Fish undercooked. Sweet sour chicken is basically tomato vinegar with sugar. Drinks are watery. In short, go elsewhere.

I just came back from the EoTW. Horrible experience. The worst chinese seafood (if you can call what they serve there as chinese seafood) ever. The boiled prawns were off colour and looked as if they died of a “disease”. They tasted worse. The ochen was mushy, tasteless and the oysters were stale. I half feared food poisoning. Their baked crab was really off taste. The clay pot toufu was stale and the mushroom in it was bad. When we complained the owner lady said we were the first to ever complain. What a lie. The only other table had a family before us as they left sour faced just as we entered. I had 3 children and 2 other adults I asked for the bill and left without eating the rubbish they served us. They billed us RM259. I paid and swore that I would never step foot again. We had our dinner elsewhere. Please pass the word around. Don’t give them yr custom.
