Hi, I dont know why people say bad things about that Macalister/Perak Road char koay teow. When I was a kid I use to help them, when the husband was alive and I use to cycle to Anson Road to buy fresh Koay Teow teow and Tow Geah for them when they run out. I even peel prawns for them and always get a free meal and some pocket money. If the koay teow is no good or delicious why they can survive for that long? I think it has been at least 54 years since they operate that stall. Whenever I go back to penang for holidyas I always go for a feed and guess what...... I got it free because she still remember me and I am now residing in Perth,Australia and always recommanded my friends who ever wanted to go to penang to go and try the Macalister Road Char Koay Teow. I use to live just opposite the stall. Gene of Perth West Australia.

Hi Lilian, Char Koay Teow... hmmmm... try the stall @ Jalan Bawasah, I Think there's a Nasi Melayu Norman (something sounds like that.) The old couple started the business at 8 am...before noon, all sapu habis! One thing though they don't use Lard :P Maybe for health conscious eaters this place is the one for them. My sister and her hubby said it's seafood is fresh and chilli is wonderful and quite a large plate. Until now, I haven't have the chance to eat a single Koay Teow strip from that seller because I can't exit home earlier than the stall... :-(
