Jalan Johor (off Jln Anson) : Foo Kooi Mee

foo koo mee

I think this is the only place who calls the Lam Mee or birthday mee, Foo Kooi Mee. Or maybe the version of the Foo Kooi Mee is differently from Lam Mee? Anyway, I love this hawker place which operates only at night. It is located on the fringe of Jalan Johor and Jalan Anson where the Buddhist temple is.

We go there regularly for pau, char koay teow, wantan mee and curry mee. The Hokkien char too is not bad. But let’s talk about this Foo Kooi Mee today.

You will be sitting in a huge fields, under the moon and the stars. The tables and chairs are all rickety but in the darkness, you do not care much because the Foo Kooi Mee is delicious. It has a nice, clear soup.

The noodle is garnished simply with some fish cakes, pork and fried egg. I always ask for lots of Chinese celery and sambal belacan. As you can see above, the whole plate is totally covered with Chinese celery.

Go to Johor Road if you have never eaten there before. Only available at nights.
